Taft sends "Special Delegate" Leonard Wood to the Argentine Republic centenary

Manuscript DS as president, signed “Wm. H. Taft,” one page, 10.5 x 13.75, April 5, 1910. President Taft appoints Major General Leonard Wood of the United States Army as a "Special Delegate of the United States of America, with the rank of Ambassador, on Special Mission, as the representative of this Government to attend the ceremonies which are to take place at Buenos Aires, Argentina Republic in May next, incident to the centenary celebration of the Argentine Republic." Signed boldly at the conclusion by Taft, and countersigned by Secretary of State Philander C. Knox. Lower portion retains the large paper seal. In fine condition, with intersecting folds and a slightly irregular top edge.
