Letter to Cardinal Ercole Consalvi, in part: "I am on the way to leave, as I already announced to you, my dear Cardinal, I am getting ready to the trip with great pleasure and it is a great pleasure to embrace you and to send you the expression of my inviolable attachment...I am sorry I will not be back for the childbirth of Mrs. Murat; farewell my dear Cardinal, love me as I love you and assure His Holiness [Pope Pius VII] that he hasn't better friend than me."
