Federal judge (1896-1985) who swore in Lyndon B. Johnson as President of the United States on Air Force One after JFK's assassination. Three items: a 5.25 x 6.75 magazine photo of Hughes, signed in fountain pen, "Sarah T. Hughes"; a TLS signed "Sarah T. Hughes," one page, US District Court, April 1, 1970, in part: "Your letter of Easter Sunday 1970 has been received…An autographed picture is enclosed"; and a TLS signed "Sarah T. Hughes," one page, US District Court, September 5, 1975, in part: "Thank you so much for your note of congratulations on my assuming senior status. I will, however, continue to stay very busy in court with my present civil docket and the criminal docket coming up in February." In overall very good to fine condition, with staple holes to the upper left corners of each item, and a corner crease to the earlier letter. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the 1975 letter.
