The second president of Poland (born 1943) and the first to be democratically elected; he helped end communism in Europe as the leader of the freedom-oriented Solidarity trade union, actions that led to his awarding of the 1983 Nobel Peace Prize. Four items signed in ballpoint or felt tip by Lech Walesa: a color glossy 4 x 5.75 photo, signed on reverse; a color 4 x 6 photo; and two copies of the front cover of Time magazine from January 4, 1982, showing an artistic portrait of Walesa and naming him the Man of the Year for 1981. In overall fine condition, with light handling wear to the Time covers.
