Official letter from the Department of State to Samuel Dinsmoor, Jr., the "Governor of the State of New Hampshire," which conveys that he will forwarded "for the State of New Hampshire the ninth & tenth volumes of the series of publications connected with the United States Exploring Expedition." Signed at the conclusion by Webster as Secretary of State. In very good to fine condition, with multiple intersecting folds, and light show-through from four pieces of archival tape on the reverse.
