Description

University of Chicago economist (1912-2006) who won the 1976 Nobel Prize in Economics. ALS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, June 29, 1970. Letter to Betty Cole Dukert, seeking reimbursement of $166.25 for travel expenses procured from his appearance on Meet the Press, with Friedman continuing: "In addition, I discovered on arriving home, that I had left a…hat that I had bought last summer in Copenhagen on the plane! If that is reimbursable, it cost me something between $15 and $20. Enjoyed very much the session. Greatly appreciate your hospitality & smoothness with which everything proceeded—but it is nice to be back in lovely & cool Vermont." Includes Freidman's boarding pass and hotel receipt, as well as a carbon copy of Dukert's response, which reads, in part: "I'm sorry to report that we don't have a budget category to cover hats." In fine condition.
