Description

Two items: a semi-glossy 8 x 10 photo of Margaret Thatcher in a relaxed half-length pose, signed in the lower border in blue ink; and a TLS as prime minister, one page, 8.25 x 11.75, 10 Downing Street, December 1984, in part: "I am very pleased that the 'Sailors and Families Advice Bureau News' has given me the opportunity to send seasonal greetings to all those who play such a significant part in the service and support of the Royal Navy. The Clyde Submarine Base, Faslane, has had a particularly busy year: there are not many days that pass without general public being reminded of the activities of the Base and the invaluable role played by those who serve there. The work is hazardous and often carried out in the full glare of publicity. But by doing the job professionally and in such a cheerful manner, Service and civilian staff demonstrate the finest traditions of the Senior Service. You have my gratitude and admiration." In overall very good to fine condition, with a light vertical bend to the photo. Accompanied by a letter of transmittal from the press office secretary.
