London Calling album by The Clash, signed on the back cover in blue ballpoint by Joe Strummer, Paul Simonon, Topper Headon, and Mick Jones, who adds "(GTR)." In fine condition. The record is not included. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient, in part: "I got the album signed when I went to see The Clash at The Canterbury Odeon (where The Marlowe Theatre is now). A little basic research tells me that would have been 6th January 1980 and that they were supported by local band The Purple Hipsters…When The Clash drove up in their minibus before the show Simonon and Jones got out ignoring the awkward school boy clutching his albums. Strummer got out and called the others back to sign my collection. I was so ill-prepared I didn't even have a pen. One of the crew came to my rescue and lent me one. When Strummer went to sign the front of the album I asked him not to—I did not want to deface the iconic image of Simonon smashing his bass on the stage. So, the band signed the back of the album instead—I believe this makes the item particularly rare."
