Description

"The author of any best-selling book receives, not a few, but many thousands of letters"

TLS signed “Rachel L. Carson,” one page, 6.75 x 10, personal letterhead, November 15, 1953. Letter to Ken Browne, in part: "I am sorry to disappoint you, but I do not make a practice of sending out photographs. A little reflection will show you why it is impossible to comply with what you probably regard as a reasonable request. The author of any best-selling book receives, not a few, but many thousands of letters. It is impossible to comply with requests for pictures, mementos and the like, or even to acknowledge all letters personally, if one is to continue writing. I have considered it more important to do the latter, and I feel sure most of my readers agree with me." In very good condition, with light staining and faint irregular toning.
