Cultural anthropologist (1901-1978) who featured frequently as an author and speaker in the mass media during the 1960s and 1970s. Her reports detailing the attitudes towards sex in South Pacific and Southeast Asian traditional cultures influenced the 1960s sexual revolution. Three items: a TLS, one page, 5.5 x 8.5, The American Museum of Natural History letterhead, October 10, 1967, in part: "Thank you for your letter of June 16. I am enclosing in this letter the autographed photograph you requested"; a glossy 3.25 x 4 photo of Margaret Mead, signed in the lower border in black ballpoint and dated "1967"; and a color glossy 7 x 3.5 postcard photo of Mead during a film shoot on the island of Manus, signed in black felt tip, "Filming in Manus, 1967, Happy New Year, Margaret Mead," who credits the photo to Richard Leiterman; the photo is inscribed in another hand. In overall very good to fine condition, with some light creases and postal impressions. Accompanied by three transmittal letters.
