French politician (born 1911) who served as President of France from 1969 until his death in 1974. He previously was Prime Minister of France from 1962 to 1968—the longest tenure in the position's history. Two items: a circa 1965 ballpoint signature of Georges Pompidou on an off-white 5 x 3.75 card printed along the top "Le Premier Ministre"; and an ALS, one page, 5.25 x 8.25, postmarked August 2, 1968, in full: "Thank you very much for your letter and feelings." Pompidou signs at the bottom and incorporates his name into the upper right address field. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by two original mailing envelopes.
