Description

Group lot of seven original glossy and semi-glossy press photos documenting World War I and World War II, ranging in size from 5 x 6 to 13.5 x 8.25, with reverse of each stamp-dated or annotated, and four bearing affixed newspaper clippings of the corresponding image. The World War I images include: a group of Armistice celebrators in front of a large sign that reads: ‘To Hell with the Kaiser’; several women celebrating Armistice Day, reverse dated November 11, 1918; an overhead view of a large parade featuring the 33rd Division; and a row of six flag-draped coffins at Dearborn Station in Chicago, reverse dated August 12, 1921. The three World War II photos are affixed side-by-side to a 15.25 x 6.25 cardstock mount, with images showing soldiers and citizens wearing gas masks, and reverse of each dated April 20, 1941, and attributed to the Herald-American. In overall very good condition, with creasing and edge tears.
