Magritte lived and worked in an apartment at 135 rue Esseghm in Brussels for nearly 24 years from 1930 to 1954. The residence soon became a headquarters for the Belgian surrealists, as Magritte's colleagues gathered to organize the production of artwork, journals, pamphlets, and books. Today the address is home to the Rene Magritte Museum.
