ALS signed on the reverse of the accompanying mailing envelope, “T. N. Wilder,” one page both sides, May 24, 1969. Fascinating letter to noted novelist and playwright James Leo Herlihy, in part: "I'm just back from my long indirect route from Genoa to home. Back to a succession of appointments in doctors' offices. Nothing rave but tiresome enough—eyes and another black spot on my neck that 'has to be attended to.' This doesn't cut down on my social circulation much, because I don't have much soc. circ. but it disinclines me to long quasi-philosophical beer sessions. So that must await until a time when I've been 'sprung' from medical attentions. Even while abroad I read of some new work of yours—one-act plays, I think—and was delighted. I hope the director and actor of The Midnight Cowboy have served you well." In fine condition.
