TLS signed “Clementine S. Churchill,” one page both sides, 7 x 8.75, 10 Downing Street letterhead, September 18, 1942. Poignant letter to "Mrs. Hall-Smith," in part: "It is most kind of the Members of the Spent House Red Cross Hospital Supply Depot to devote part of the proceeds of their Red Cross Sale to my 'Aid to Russia' Fund. I send to the Members, and to all who contributed, my grateful thanks for the donation of Thirty-one Pounds which you have forwarded on their behalf. You will, I know, be interested to hear that the Fund has now reached nearly £2,115,000, and donations continue to come in from all parts of the Empire. The money is being utilized for the purpose of sending to Russia the large quantities of surgical equipment, medical supplies, serums and drugs for which the Russian Government have asked, and which are so urgently needed by the Russian people in their dire need." In very good to fine condition, with a tear and some tack holes to the upper blank area.
