Superb 1 1/4″ celluloid pinback button featuring a portrait of President Woodrow Wilson, with a flag ribbon below bearing a badge for "Flag Day" in Manchester, New Hampshire, on June 15, 1914. Both buttons bear Whitehead & Hoag paper backer inserts. In fine condition. In June 1914, Amoskeag Mills in Manchester unveiled what was purportedly the world's largest American flag at 95 feet long and 50 feet high. Interestingly, it was not until 1916 that President Wilson issued a proclamation officially establishing Flag Day as June 14th.
