Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 18 x 14, December 21, 1921. President Harding appoints Paul M. Davis as "Postmaster at Donalds, in the County of Abbeville, State of South Carolina." Signed at the conclusion by President Harding and countersigned by Postmaster General William H. Hays, who later earned notoriety as head of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America, in which capacity he oversaw enforcement of the 'Production Code' that imposed strict censorship guidelines on all Hollywood films for decades. In very good to fine condition, with soiling and toning to the left edge area, and scattered speckled staining to the right side.
