Description

Efforts to "spread our 'Catholic Lectures'"

Italian priest (1815-1888) who was canonized in 1934 in recognition of his work on behalf of disadvantaged youth. ALS in Italian, signed “Sac. Bosco Gio,” one page both sides, 5.25 x 8.25, February 18, 1860. Letter to Father Paolo Sforzani of Scuole Pie, Florence. In part (translated): "Very dear in God, the grace of our Lord be always with us. The letter of Mr. Cinquetti sent to me last December was never received by me. Anyway I hereby authorize him with broad power to reprint my booklet 'La Chiave del Paradiso [The Key of Paradise].' It would be great if he could send me the proofs since, being at the fifth edition, some changes occurred. I will do all my best in doing some adjustments and changes. Please tell to Mr. Cinquetti that the booklets cost 10 cents each in loose leaves so, maybe, it could be more convenient if we send them to him from here...Since you are involved in a nice bookstore in Tuscany could you help us to spread our 'Catholic Lectures' that I believe you already know...We are doing many efforts to oppose good books to those perverted...If we could work together helping each other I believe that it will promote with benefit the glory of God and the good of the soul. God bless you all." In very good to fine condition, with toning, foxing, and intersecting folds.
