American politician (1769-1828) who served as senator and who, as governor of New York, played a major role in the construction of the Erie Canal. Partly-printed DS, one page, 7 x 4.5, July 12, 1813. Pay order issued to the "Treasurer of the City of New York" to pay E. Jennings, a total of $470.56 for "superintendent of Camps from 10th June to 10th July." Signed at the conclusion by Clinton as mayor of New York City. In fine condition. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the autograph graded NM 7.
