Description

Front page of the Buffalo Express newspaper from April 19, 1912, one page, 16 x 21.75, reporting the estimated death toll and status of survivors from the Titanic sinking, which occurred just five days prior. The headline and subhead read, "Rescue Ship Is In Port, 739 Out Of 2,340 Alive, Titanic Passengers Say the Lifeboats Saved Almost All They Could Carry, But 1,600 Had to Die in Icy Waters, Suicide of Captain and Engineer, Survivors Say There Was No Panic When Vessel Struck and That All Women Possible Were Received in Boats Before Men Were Taken." Matted and framed to an overall size of 21.75 x 27.5. In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds, expected uniform toning, and some wear to edges.
