Description

The Globe guesses wrong, Patriots seal biggest comeback in Super Bowl history

Uncommon early edition of The Boston Globe newspaper from February 6, 2017, the day after the New England Patriots shocked the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI by a score of 34-28. The front cover features the headline, "A Bitter End," above a large color image of Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady crumpled on the field as Falcons Cornerback Robert Alford returns an interception for a touchdown in the second quarter. In fine condition, with a tear to top edge of first four pages. Despite being down 21-3 at half-time, and 28-9 at the close of the third, the Patriots overcame a 25-point deficit in the fourth quarter and in overtime to deliver the biggest comeback victory in Super Bowl history. The Globe's coverage for the early edition newspaper stopped late in the third quarter, which ultimately led them to predetermine the wrong outcome.
