Pair of ALSs from Johnny Ramone signed either “Best wishes, John” and “Thanks, John,” three total pages, 6 x 9, no date but circa 1992-1993. Ramone sent these letters to Cory Schwartz, a member of the New York Yankees media relations department, requesting autographed 8 x 10 photos in exchange for Ramones merchandise. The first letter, in part: “Photos were great, thanks. Enclosed is a C.D. till I get back then I’ll get the shirt & pass. Enclosed list of players if you can find without any problems. Dave Pagan 1973-76, Sonny Dixon 1956, Mickey Klutts 1976-77, Johnny Oats 1980-81, Hal Brown 1962, Rich Beck 1965, Wade Blasingame 1972.” The second letter, in part: “Enclosed list of needed 8 x 10’s, Lee Thomas—1961, Roger Repoz—1964-66, Roger Hambright—1971, John Miller—1966, Herb Karpel—1946, Archie Moore—1964-65.” Schwartz adds notations to the left of several names, indicating whether he could find the photos or not. In overall fine condition, with clear tape to the top and bottom edges of one of the letters.
Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Schwartz, in part: "I worked for New York Yankees in 1992-93 in the media relations department. During this time period I became friendly with Johnny Ramone, having been introduced by my uncle Warren Cohen, who worked for the band and was close friends with John. John was an avid collector of autographed 8 x 10's of baseball players, with the specific goal of obtaining an autographed photo of every player who had ever played for the New York Yankees. As part of y job with the Yankees, I had access to the club's historical photo archives…To help John complete his collection, he sent me a series of hand-written notes with lists of players for whom he needed photos."
