Description

Impressive archive of material relating to the Brooklyn Dodgers Football Club, which consists of 14 typed letters and notes concerning the management and various payments of the team, dated January 19, 1939 and February 1, 1943, including: two letters from owner Dan Topping, three letters from business manager Dennis J. Shae, six letters from C. S. Winfield, and two letters from Albert L. Strang.

Also included:

Two 8.5 x 7 capital stock transfers for 1,250 and 40 shares of the Brooklyn Dodgers Football Club, Inc., both issued to National Surety Company, both signed by Topping and witness Neal M. Welch, dated December 7, 1940.

DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, dated February 3, 1943, letter of agreement between Daniel R. Topping and Henry J. Topping, Jr., granting the latter a 30% stake in the franchise of the Brooklyn Dodgers Football Club, Inc., once professional football is resumed after World War II, signed at the conclusion by both.

A group of 10 canceled personal checks belonging to Henry J. Topping, Jr., each 6.25 x 2.75, each made payable to the “Brooklyn Dodgers Football Club,” dated between December 13, 1937 and September 28, 1939, with two signed by Henry T. Topping, Jr, and eight signed by his mother, Rhea Reid Topping, on her son's behalf), with several endorsed on the reverse by Dennis J. Shea.

A pair of bracket-bound financial reports on the Brooklyn Dodgers Football Club for the seasons of 1941 and 1942, with supplementary material and carbon copies. In overall fine condition. Provenance: Bonhams, June 2017.
