British naval officer and explorer (1868-1912) best known for the two expeditions he led to the Antarctic, the Discovery Expedition and the ill-fated Terra Nova Expedition. Leatherbound financial ledger containing records for Scott's bank account with Messrs. Woodhead & Co. from December 31, 1894, to December 31, 1902, 4 x 6, filled out in another hand, with an inset label on the front cover reading, "Commander R. F. Scott," with "Lieut" struck through. The ledger contains the record of the principal expenses and payments received from early in his career, including the very beginning of his Discovery Expedition to Antarctica, which commenced on August 6, 1901. Some of the most interesting entries are from 1894, denoting that he received pay from the "Majestic," the British battleship where Scott served as a torpedo lieutenant, and 1901 payments from the "Nat Antarctic Exped." In fine condition.
