Yury Onufriyenko’s blue flight jacket worn aboard the Soyuz TM-23 spacecraft en route to the Mir space station as part of the Mir EO-21 mission, featuring a Space Shuttle-Mir Program patch sewn to right chest, a Russian Space Agency “PK” logo patch to left chest, with name tag in English and Cyrillic, “Yu. Onufrienko,” attached above. The left shoulder also bears an embroidered patch of the Russian flag. In fine condition, with expected wear from use, which includes some scattered stains.
A decorated pilot in the Soviet (Russian) Air Force, Onufriyenko was selected as a cosmonaut candidate in 1989 and later served as an integral member of four missions—Soyuz TM-23, STS-108, Expedition 4, and STS-111. He was a veteran of two extended spaceflights—aboard the space station Mir in 1996 and aboard the International Space Station in 2001-2002—which enabled him to accrue over 389 days in space and a total of eight spacewalks. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Alacona.
