American painter, muralist, stained glass window maker, decorator, and writer (1835-1910) renowned for his pioneering use of opalescent glass. ALS signed “Jno. La Farge,” one page, 5.5 x 8.5, personal letterhead, February 24, 1907. Letter to "Miss Seaton Schmidt," in part: "I have to regret not calling upon you when I was in Washington some little while ago. I was there three days—but I was so tired with the business…for the Art Commission which took almost all day…that I merely went to bed afternoons." In fine condition, with light show-through from two small mounting remnants on the reverse.
