His highness, Prince Oleg Konstantinovich Romanov had, to my inconsolable grief, passed away while on active duty from the wound sustained in combat. In informing your royal highness of this sad event I am sure that his highness will wholeheartedly commiserate with us. With highest and total respect to your royal highness our kind brother and friend." In fine condition. A son of a Grand Duke Constantine Constantinovich, Prince Oleg Konstantinovich was wounded while fighting against the Germans near Vladislavovas in 1914. Emergency surgery could not save him, and as he was dying he said, 'I am so happy. It will encourage the troops to know that the Imperial House is not afraid to shed its blood.'
