Description

Uncommon partly-printed DS, signed “B. Lincoln,” one page, 7.5 x 9.75, January 30, 1799. As collector of the districts of Boston and Charlestown, Lincoln certifies that "Ebenezer Simmonds, an American Seaman, aged Thirty five Years, or thereabouts, of the Height of Six Feet & 1/2 Inches, dark complexion, dark hair, dark eyes, has this day produced…the Act, intitled 'An Act for the Relief and Protection of American Seamen.'" Signed at the conclusion by Lincoln as collector, with left portion retaining original white paper seal. Mounted and framed with an engraving of Lincoln to an overall size of 13 x 25. In very good condition, with overall creasing, and some show-through from old tape repairs on the back of the intersecting folds.
