Attorney and politician (1745-1819) who served as the sixth and tenth governor of Massachusetts. Partly-printed DS, one page, 9.75 x 14.5, February 28, 1815. As governor of Massachusetts, Strong appoints Stephen Thatcher "to be one of our Justices of the Peace, and of the Quorum." Signed in the upper left by Governor Strong, and countersigned at the conclusion by Alden Bradford as secretary. The embossed white paper Massachusetts seal is affixed to the upper left. In very good to fine condition, with some toning and staining, and several old tape repairs on the reverse.
