American painter of well-known scenes of the American Revolution (1756-1843). DS, signed “Jn'o Trumbull,” one page, 7.5 x 9.25, July 17, 1794. Letter to his brother, Connecticut Congressman Jonathan Trumbull, Jr., in full: "The Bearer of this is Mr. Richards, a gentlemen of very respectable connexions in this country, who goes to America with strong prepossessions in our favor & an intention of traveling throughout the United States. In our part of the Country your information may be useful to him & I beg to commend him to your particular attention." Matted and framed with an engraving to an overall size of 20.25 x 16.25.
