Excellent original production drawing for the cover of a Dennis the Menace comic book, accomplished in graphite and colored pencil by Hank Ketcham on an off-white 11.5 x 14.5 sheet of heavy drawing paper. The drawing shows Dennis leaving a path of destruction as he storms through his family's living room as a running back; in his wake Dennis leaves his father grabbing his foot, his mother bobbling a tray of dishes, and Ruff the dog, with helmet on head, in a state of confusion. Notations to lower border indicate that the artwork is for "Cover—Book #20," which was published by Standard/Pines/Haliden/Fawcett in January 1953. Lower portion bears an affixed slip featuring a facsimile signature of Ketcham. In fine condition. A fantastic piece of original artwork that celebrates the Sunday gridiron tradition and America's trouble-making boy next-door.
