The first female Governor of Texas (1875-1961) who served from 1925 to 1927 and then again from 1933 to 1935. Two items: a partly-printed DS signed "Miriam A. Ferguson," one page, 11 x 17.5, November 24, 1933, granting W. B. Stevens eight acres of land situated in Leon County, signed at the conclusion by Ferguson as governor; and a vintage glossy 10 x 7.75 photo of Ma Ferguson being sworn in as Texas governor, with her husband, former Governor James 'Pa' Ferguson, standing nearby, signed in white ink, "Miriam A. Ferguson, Governor of Texas" and "Jas. E. Ferguson, June 13—1934." In overall fine condition, with a small area of paper loss at the fold intersections of the document and some creasing to edges of photo.
