Lloyd Nolan's screen-worn police coat from his role as Officer McShane in the 1945 20th Century-Fox coming-of-age drama A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. The navy blue coat features five golden buttons for closure featuring the Seal of New York City, with three buttons featuring an ornate "P" on each cuff. The interior is lined in black satin, with a Western Costume Co. tag sewn in the collar, stamped as "No. 29528," and annotated in ink, "Lloyd Nolan." In fine condition, with fraying to the lining inside the cuffs and collar. Adapted for the screen from Betty Smith's classic novel of the same name, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn was nominated for two Oscars (winning one) and was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being 'culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.'
