Automobile racer (1901-1942) who won the 1931 Indianapolis 500, and died in 1942 following complications from injuries suffered in a 1938 midget race. Vintage fountain pen signature, "Louis Schneider,” on a 6.5 x 3.5 cover postmarked at Indianapolis, Indiana, with a typed caption reading: "Commemorating the Nineteenth Annual 500 Mile Speedway Classic - Indianapolis, Ind., May 30th, 1931." In fine condition, with a central vertical fold.
