America's first military aviator

United States Army general (1879-1967) who learned to fly the first military planes purchased from the Wright Brothers, and became America's first military aviator as an airship pilot; he rose to chief of the Air Corps following World War I. TLS signed “B. D. Foulois,” one page, 8 x 10.5, War Department letterhead, February 14, 1933. Letter to the Hon. Henry E. Barbour, who was representing California in the House of Representatives, in part: "I want to express to you, on behalf of the Army Air corps, its grateful appreciation of your most sympathetic and friendly interest, and sturdy support, of all matters connected with the development and expansion of the Army Air Corps which have come before you during your service in the Congress of the United States. I am fully mindful of the critical conditions which have confronted Congress, especially during the past three years, and in looking back over that particular period, I feel that the Army Air Corps owes you a great debt for your sturdy defense and help in building up this Branch of National Defense to its present state of efficiency." In fine condition, with three file holes to the left edge.
