Handsome full-sized wooden gavel, 11.5″ in length, beautifully lathe-turned with a brass plaque affixed to head reading: “Made from tree planted by Pres. George Washington.” Identified as white ash wood, the tree this gavel was made from was likely one planted by Washington and his servants at Mount Vernon circa 1785. In fine condition.
