Ink signature, "Maj. G. S. Patton, Jr., Tank School, Soldier Letter,” on an off-white 5.5 x 1.25 slip clipped from a mailing envelope, postmarked March 17, 1918. In very good to fine condition, with toning to the top edge which touches the signature, and a tear from opening passing through the signature. Accompanied by a photocopy of the letter originally enclosed in the envelope, written to his mother. During World War I, Patton was tasked with establishing a tank school at Bourg, a small village close to Langres in France. He received the first ten tanks just days after sending this, on March 23, 1918. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the autograph graded EX-MT 6.
