Description

Politician and financial genius (1761-1849) responsible for the formation of what is now known as the Ways and Means Committee. LS as Secretary of the Treasury, one page, 7.75 x 9.75, July 11, 1805. Letter to Jedediah Huntington, collector at New London, in full: "Enclosed I transmit to you an order from the Secretary of the Navy, directing John Beekman of New York to deliver to you ten tons of iron ballast for the use of the Revenue Cutter; for which you will be pleased to pay at the market price, and charge the same to the United States in the accounts of said Cutter." In very good to fine condition, with toning and splitting to the horizontal folds.
