Collection of items acquired by Old Tucson Studios founder Robert Shelton from the estate of Dr. Harold J. Chapman, a physician and pharmacist in old-time Speed, Kansas. Includes: a large antique circa 1920s brass megaphone used for announcing stage events at Speed's historic theater, which has been fashioned into a lamp measuring 42″ tall; a heavy iron mortar and pestle from Dr. Chapman's drugstore, measuring 8.5″ tall and 8.25″ in diameter, with the pestle measuring 11″ long; and a full bottle of "Chapman's Female Tonic: An Excellent Combination for Diseases Peculiar to Women," inside its original decorative box. In overall very good condition. An article about Dr. Chapman published in the Phillips County Centennial and Progress Edition, 1872-1972, reads, in part: 'With the removal of Dr. Chapman's hospital, office, drugstore and theatre furnishings, Speed sinks further into obscurity. Old Tucson was built as a movie location for the film 'Arizona.' After this filming the Tucson Jaycees ran it as a tourist attraction without much success. Then a rancher from the southern part of Kansas, Robert Shelton, bought it as a commercial investment. Dr. Chapman Jr. approached Shelton about his father's belongings becoming a part of Old Tucson. Shelton flew to Speed to investigate. A merger was completed and Chapman is now a partner in the venture.' Robert Shelton's Old Tucson Studios Collection
