TLS as president, one page, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, December 18, 1945. Letter to Barnet Nover of the Washington Post, in full: "I appreciated most highly your note of the sixteenth in regard to my effort at the Gridiron Club. As you can well understand, I was in somewhat of a spot, due to the fact that it was my first appearance and the Governor of New York had seen fit to make a political speech. I was somewhat worried about the result but evidently, with my usual good luck, it came through all right. I know it did if you say so. I appreciated your note very much." In fine condition.
