DS, one page, 8.5 x 11, September 16, 1959. Official letter directed to I. H. Prinzmetal by Gary Cooper and Rudolph Monta of Loew's Incorporated, in part: "We are desirous of including in our forthcoming motion picture to be produced by Mr. Arthur Freed and tentatively entitled The Subterraneans (based on the novel of the same name by Jack Kerouac) the name of Gary Cooper in dialogue and action substantially as follows: The story deals with the experiences of certain characters who live in San Francisco's bohemian section, and during a gathering in one of San Francisco's well-known coffee-bars, one of the group speaks against the background of a jazz record, as follows: 'Come to Never-Never Land, a mile or two beyond morning and a turn to the right. We'll be young forever! We'll all sign contracts with Peter Pan! Mickey Rooney is our Prophet, and Gary Cooper is our God!'" Signed nicely at the conclusion in fountain pen by Cooper. In fine condition.
