Description

Townshend solicits recording equipment from Paul McCartney "to help unemployed artistic young people"

TLS signed “Pete,” one page, 8.25 x 11.5, The Boathouse letterhead, September 18, 1985. Letter to Paul McCartney, with handwritten salutation: "Dear Paul, I'll be seeing you this weekend, but I thought I'd better put this on paper." The typed portion reads: "The Big Strawberry Foundation has been set up to help unemployed artistic young people, and I am helping by providing, at nominal rental, a barge which is to be equipped as a 16 track recording studio. I have also donated some pieces of equipment, but alot more is badly needed." He closes with a handwritten request: "Do you think you can help at all?" The letter includes its original two-page enclosure, listing what had been donated by Townshend and what equipment was still needed. In very good to fine condition, with light creasing and handling wear. A unique piece of correspondence between legendary British rockers.
