Description

Two letters: a TLS signed "Yours sincerely, Margaret Thatcher," one page, House of Commons letterhead, December 8, 1978, in part: "Your husband sounds as though he was a wonderful man. I admire his steadfastness; and, if in a small way I am able to inspire among Conservative supporters like yourself a sense of purpose and hope for the future, then that is no more than my duty as Leader of the Party"; and an ALS signed "Denis Thatcher," three pages on two sheets, 10 Downing Street letterhead, March 26, [1983], in part: "Young un-employed can be brought into hospitals to assist the staff if they will do so. Obviously they can not be forced to volunteer for this work. We must all agree that the youngster could be of much help if only they would try; however in fairness to many of them the Health Authorities do not seem to make much effort to attract them. I am afraid we live in an imperfect world and if we showed more kindness and thoughtfulness to others life would be easier for many people. In very good to fine condition, with overall creasing the the typed letter. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the Denis Thatcher letter, addressed in his own hand.
