ALS signed “T. Pickering,” one page both sides, 7.75 x 9, June 6, 1786. Letter written from Philadelphia, in part: "Mr. Lockwood has two sons, whom he as taken away from the episcopal academy, because he says they learnt nothing, & because no order was kept in the schools. I informed him some weeks ago of my expectation that Mr. Nicol would be here; & lately that he would arrive this month. But as his boys have already been some time at home, he is extremely impatient to place them at some school; & if obliged to do it before Mr. Nicol arrives, he cannot well remove them. He wishes therefore that Mr. Nicol may be urged to hasten his journey hither." In very good to fine condition, with light toning, a stain along the left edge, and the bottom trimmed off, removing only a single word of text.
