Pianist and conductor (1819-1895) and founder of The Halle orchestra in 1858. ALS in French, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, November 2, 1873. Letter to composer Charles Gounod, saying that he has heard Gounod is working on an oratorio, La Redemption, and asking under what conditions Gounod would allow it to have its first performance at the Bristol Festival which Halle was organizing for October 1875. In fine condition. Halle's hopes would be disappointed, as La Redemption was not in fact completed until 1881, and had its first performance at the Birmingham Festival in 1882.
