Graded by PSA EX-MT 6. The 1954 NY Journal American cards were one of the many regional issues of the 1950s, taking advantage of the vast popularity of the three New York area baseball teams. Distributed one card for each newsstand paper purchase, the cards were also part of the 'numbers racket' as each card came with a code number which, if matched with the numbers printed in the paper, could be redeemed for cash. The fragile nature of the paper used in production and the redemption factor, make high grade examples very desirable. Recently graded, this example boasts a crisp image, two sharp corners and two with very light wear.
