Contract, signed “Frank J. Shea,” four pages on two adjoining sheets, 8.5 x 11, February 21, 1949. American League uniform player’s contract in which Spec Shea agrees to render "skilled services as a baseball player during the year of 1949” for the New York Yankees, for a salary of $11,250. Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Shea and countersigned by Yankees General Manager George Weiss and American League President William Harridge. In fine condition. Shea earned this contract after tallying a 9-10 record in 1948—a disappointing follow-up to a successful rookie season in '47. Fighting a nagging neck injury, he appeared in just one game in 1949, and spent all of 1950 recuperating in the minor leagues.
