Description

American librarian and educator (1851-1931) who invented the Dewey Decimal system of library classification. Partly-printed DS, signed “M. Dewey,” one page, 11.5 x 8, October 31, 1919. Stock certificate issued to Lake Placid Club Stores, Inc., for 500 shares in the Lake Placid Company, signed at the conclusion by Dewey as the company's president; also endorsed on the reverse by Dewey for a share transfer. Retains the original transfer slip affixed on the left edge, and many stamps affixed to a page applied to the reverse. In fine condition, with some light staining.
