Description

"The Earth was small but so beautiful," recalls Irwin, "It was a half blue marble directly above us"

ALS signed “Jim Irwin, Apollo 15,” one page both sides, 8.5 x 11, High Flight Foundation letterhead, April 1, 1979. Letter to "Irwin," in full: "Glad to receive your letter. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I had a wonderful celebration of yet another! Regarding the Moon, it's surface is very fine like ashes or talc because the original rock has been pulverized by impact over billions of years. The mountains at Hadley base were very high—15,000 ft above surface—and hence very majestic! The Earth was small but so beautiful in the sky of Moon. It was a half blue marble directly above us. Now I have deeper regard for Moon, Earth and God. 'God walking on the Earth more important than man walking on the Moon.'" In very good to fine condition, with toning and chipping tot the edges.
