En route to Liverpool Town Hall for a civic reception held in their honor, the Beatles encountered a throng of over 200,000 people packed between Speke airport and the motorcade course heading to the event; the outpouring was so overwhelming that the band have been cited as saying that it was the greatest reception of their career. Following this unprecedented celebration, the Beatles managed to skirt their way to Liverpool's Odeon Cinema for the northern premiere of their first full-length film. Additionally, the movie's soundtrack was also released on this date, and it spared precious little time skyrocketing to number one on the charts.
